“The fight against organised crime is an area where EU cooperation is necessary and a good thing. We in Hungary are proud to host CEPOL, the EU agency responsible for training police officers, which is doing an excellent job”, said Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi at the plenary session of the European Parliament.
According to MEP Balázs Hidvéghi, when we talk about organised crime, illegal migration is a major part of the problem. “This includes, on the one hand, the international networks of people smugglers who organise illegal migration to the EU. In addition, we also see how dangerous criminals and terrorists are exploiting the lack of border controls to enter Europe,” said MEP Hidvéghi. He added that illegal migration has led to a significant deterioration in public safety in many major European cities, with an increase in attacks on women and Jews.
MEP Balázs Hidvéghi underlined that we must ensure respect for law and order. “Effective policing of serious organised crime, be it people smuggling, drug trafficking, fraud or anything else, must remain high on the agenda.”
