“We cannot allow any member of the European Parliament to publicly insult the dignity of women,” said MEP Norbert Erdős in Brussels, reacting to Socialist MEP Tibor Szanyi’s Facebook post in which he defamed Hungarian women using words not appropriate for print.
Tibor Szanyi, member of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) and MEP in the S&D Group published the following post regarding women:
“The Hungarian female model developed by the Orbán world is a ‘horse-headed wh**e.'”
“In the European Parliament, we all have a duty to support and protect women’s rights both inside and outside the EU. We cannot allow any member of the European Parliament to make sexist declarations that seriously offend the dignity of women and are at odds with the Treaties of the European Union and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. We must make it clear to Tibor Szanyi,” the EPP representative added, “that the European Parliament, as one of the main trustees of European human rights, does not tolerate that.”
“Therefore, on behalf of all decent European citizens, I call on Tibor Szanyi to publicly apologize,” said Norbert Erdős.
