Written question from the Fidesz and KDNP MEPs to the European Commission

In his disgraceful statement, Ferenc Gyurcsány admitted that the Hungarian left in Brussels is working to prevent Hungary from receiving the EU funds to which Hungarians are entitled. In the light of this outrageous admission, all Fidesz-KDNP MEPs have jointly submitted the following written questions to the European Commission: 

Ferenc Gyurcsány, leader of the Hungarian left, has admitted in a statement that Hungarian left-wing MEPs have played an active role in the European Commission’s use of legalised political demands to block Hungary’s access to EU funds to which it is legally entitled.

In view of the obligation under the EU Treaties to ensure the independence of the Commission, we ask:

1. Which members and staff of the European Commission held secret political talks with Hungarian left-wing politicians on measures affecting Hungary and on how many occasions did such talks take place?

2. Which of the political demands in a legal guise were proposed by Hungarian left-wing politicians?

3. Have Hungarian left-wing politicians proposed that the abolition of the Child Protection Act should also be a political condition for the disbursement of EU funds to which Hungarians are legally entitled?
