We condemn the terrorist attack against Israel in the strongest terms!

2023. 10. 11.

The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee held an extraordinary meeting on the series of attacks on Israel, during which MEPs heard first the Israeli ambassador and then representatives of the European External Action Service and the European Commission. During the debate, MEP Kinga Gál, President of the Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament, strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Israel and recognised the country’s right to self-defence. She also pointed out the responsibility of the European Union, both in reviewing its aid to the Palestinian territories and in preventing an escalation of the conflict.

Kinga Gál expressed her solidarity with the Israeli people, the relatives of the victims, the hostages and the wounded. She emphasized that we condemn terrorism in the strongest terms and recognise the country’s right to self-defence.

Kinga Gál stressed that she agrees with the Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Olivér Várhelyi, who said that this is a turning point of terror and brutality for which there is no excuse and that EU aid to the Palestinian territories should be reviewed. “Terrorist organisations should not even indirectly benefit from EU funds that can be used to attack Israel”, he stressed.

Kinga Gál added that the EU must do its utmost to prevent the escalation of the conflict and the widening of the confrontation beyond the borders of Israel and Palestine.
