Press release by György Hölvényi
Fidesz-KDNP MEP György Hölvényi joined the campaign of the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe (FAFCE) with the aim of drawing attention to the protection of Christian family values during the EP elections. The “Vote for family” campaign was launched on April 2nd and includes all EU Member States.
Twenty-six FAFCE member organizations from 16 EU Member States have been working together towards a declaration on the gravest challenges confronting European families. Its aim is to give the candidates in the European Parliamentary elections the opportunity to commit themselves to promoting family-friendly, family-oriented measures and legislation. The Christian Democrat MEP signed the supporting document during the visit of Antoine Renard, President of FAFCE.
The statement covers the causes of the drastic decline in birth rates, the promotion of families, the respect of marriage as an institution, and the recognition of the relationship between man and woman as the sole basis of the family.
György Hölvényi has always considered family policy a vital issue. He hosted several youth family conferences in the European Parliament, to which he also invited young people from the European Youth Initiative for Future Families. Hölvényi worked closely with the Confederation of Family Associations in the Carpathian Basin and the National Association of Large Families. The latter went on to receive the European Citizen’s Prize based on the MEP’s referral.
The Fidesz-KDNP MEP also ensured traineeships in the European Parliament for dozens of young people from large families. In recent years, he has been working to spread the success of the Hungarian government’s family policy as widely as possible so that other Member States can follow the methods as examples.
