There Should Be Zero Tolerance in Europe Against Drug Trafficking

International politics today speaks the language of power, and the European Union must adapt to this reality as well – said Enikő Győri, Fidesz MEP and Economic Spokesperson of the Patriots for Europe Group, during the debate on the situation in Venezuela at the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg. MEP Győri pointed out that under the Chávez-Maduro communist dictatorship, Venezuela has turned from an “earthly paradise” into a poor, oppressed country from which millions have fled – including several hundred families who found refuge in Hungary.

“It is an open secret that the state has been sustained by drug trafficking. Elections were rigged, and the regime was upheld by the military-institutional structure of the Cartel of the Suns. The left denies this for ideological reasons, but without the complicity of the Venezuelan state, global drug trafficking could not have reached such massive proportions,” Enikő Győri stated in her speech.

She added that by choosing action over legalistic hesitation, the United States sent a clear message to narco-regimes. “Europe must also act decisively if it does not want drug trafficking and violence between dealers to become an everyday reality – as it is already the case in Antwerp or Brussels,” she stressed.

“There is a zero-tolerance policy in Hungary. Europe should adopt it as well,” Enikő Győri concluded.
