“The growing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood within French state institutions is a warning that, as our cultural roots and identity weaken, our everyday security may also be put at risk,” György Hölvényi, Member of the European Parliament for the KDNP, stressed on Wednesday during the Strasbourg plenary session. According to the MEP, what can happen in France can also happen in other European countries, which is why this is not merely a national issue, but one that concerns Europe as a whole.

Hölvényi pointed out that the different regions of Europe assess the consequences of mass illegal migration differently. According to the MEP, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe do not wish to follow those Western European developments that may lead to the emergence of parallel societies. “We do not want illegal immigration, and we do not want parallel societies,” he said.

The MEP stressed that this position is not directed against Islam or Muslim communities. At the same time, he described cooperation with organizations that question the principle of universal human dignity and equality or that are linked to political violence as unacceptable.

“An organisation which does not respect the equal dignity of every human being and is associated with violent political methods cannot be our partner. The security, culture and identity of our country and of Europe cannot be subject to compromise,” György Hölvényi concluded.
