Press Release by MEP Edina Tóth
President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen and First Vice-President Frans Timmermans presented the most important points of the European Green Deal in the European Parliament today. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth welcomed the European Green Deal, the first continent-wide plan for saving the future of our Planet. At the same time she drew attention on providing adequate funding by the European Union.
The EPP Group politician considers that it is of utmost necessity to create a framework that respects the interest of citizens and does not result in extra costs to consumers. Increase in energy and food price is unacceptable, therefore, we need a cost effective solution, which respects the principle of technological neutrality and pays special attention to the support of the least developed regions in the EU.
“The European Green Deal should not only be ambitious but it has to take into account the Member States’ needs while also protecting the consumers and the competitiveness of the EU”, stressed MEP Edina Tóth in her speech.
