The European left is working with the Hungarian left to ensure that Hungary does not receive a single penny of EU funding

At the initiative of the Left, the situation of the Hungarian rule of law is back on the agenda in the European Parliament. The European left has once again launched an attack with one aim: to stop the Hungarian people from receiving a single penny of EU funding. 

MEP Tamás Deutsch, Head of the Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament, pointed out that Europe is facing a series of crises: pandemic, economic crisis, war, energy crisis, migration pressure. However, the European left is once again – instead of proposing solutions to real problems – focusing on vilifying Hungary, with sick political blindness. And now, when all the signs point to the fact that they are losing the political war against the Hungarians, in their final desperation, without any decision-making power, they are attacking the Commission, repeating their anti-Hungarian lies. Their aim is the same: to block the agreement between Hungary and the European Commission so that Hungary does not receive the EU funds to which it is rightfully entitled. 

MEP Tamás Deutsch stressed that the European left, driven by a sense of superiority, threatens and wants to punish anyone who disagrees with them. In doing so, it is the left that is blatantly violating democratic values and the rule of law and seriously undermining European cooperation.

In his speech, Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said that those who initiated this debate want to play the role of the guardians of the rule of law. But the reality is that they are ignoring the will of the people and cannot forgive the fact that Hungarians — and increasingly others in Europe as well — do not want the policies of the left and their dangerous, out-of-touch ideas.

MEP Balázs Hidvéghi recalled that they demanded that Hungary sit down and negotiate. Now that we have negotiated and agreed, they are attacking even more out of frustration. Because the left is never really concerned about the rule of law. All the accusations they have been making against Hungary for years have been nothing but dirty lies!

The European Left’s goal is clear: it wants the Hungarian people to receive not a single penny of EU funding. We reject this shameful blackmail! The European Left, together with the Hungarian Left, is trampling the foundations of European cooperation!
