The European Parliament approved today the proposal on establishing the Digital Europe Programme, which aims to fund investment in cutting-edge technologies. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth welcomed the new program, which may effectively enhance green renewal and accelerate digital transition.
In her plenary speech, MEP Edina Tóth pointed out that the digital sector has a key role in post-pandemic economic recovery, hence the Digital Europe Programme is an essential part of the recovery plan.
„The total €7.6 billion of the Digital Europe Programme for the period 2021-2027, is part of the long-term EU budget. The program will fund projects in five areas: high performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills and deployment, best use of digital capacities throughout the economy and society”, underlined the Fidesz politician.
The main goal is to reduce digital gaps between businesses and regions, whilst ensuring accessibility and usability of infrastructure and innovative services. „I warmly welcome that fight against digital exclusion, which is of paramount importance for Hungary, is a vital element of the program so as to ensure long-term professional training”, closed her remarks MEP Edina Tóth.
