Resignation of József Szájer

2020. 11. 29.

We sadly welcomed the decision of our fellow MEP József Szájer to resign from elected office by the end of the year and to return his mandate as a Member of the European Parliament. He has defined the work of the Fidesz-KDNP Delegation to the European Parliament as leader of the delegation since Hungary’s accession to the European Union in 2004; later, he took on the role of president of the delegation and is still responsible for shaping the direction of our delegation to this day. József Szájer became the best-known and most-recognized Hungarian member of the European Parliament.

We, the members of the Fidesz-KDNP Delegation to the European Parliament, on behalf of ourselves and the entire political community, would like to thank József Szájer for playing a crucial role in enabling Hungarian civic conservatism and Christian democracy to take their rightful place on the European political scene. The political creed of József Szájer, that is, the uncompromising representation of Hungary’s sovereignty and the interests of Hungarian citizens, comprises values that will continue to serve as the basic principles of our delegation.

We wish József Szájer much success in his future work, and, of course, we look forward to his cooperation and suggestions for improvement going forward!
