2021. 06. 11.

The European Parliament supported by an overwhelming majority its motion for a resolution on a cyber security strategy for the digital decade. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth welcomed the initiatives announced in the strategy and drew attention to the changing nature and complexity of cyber threats, therefore the digitalisation of one of the Union’s key priorities depends on cybersecurity.

“The aim is to strengthen Europe’s resilience to cyber threats and to enable all citizens and businesses to enjoy and take full advantage of reliable services and digital tools. The EU must therefore make a serious effort to defend itself against cyber attacks from third countries,” said the Fidesz politician.

The MEP emphasized that in order to reduce technological dependence, the EU needs greater strategic autonomy in cybersecurity. “The pandemic has shown how vulnerable Europe is, so it needs to reduce its dependence on global supply chains. We must strive to strengthen European developments in critical infrastructure and to create a defense capability, so that Europe can become a secure area,” she added.
