Left-wing MEPs demanded the immediate withdrawal of EU funds owed to Hungary and Poland in a debate in the European Parliament. Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi stressed that Hungary is once again under fire over the Child Protection Act.
In the debate, MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said that these political attacks have been going on for years. They are disguised as a debate on the rule of law, but actually they are about our values. “First the left in Brussels wanted to force migration upon us, and now they want us to let LGBTQ propaganda into kindergartens and schools,” the MEP said.
MEP Hidvéghi emphasized that Hungary and Poland were being punished for not giving in to blackmail. He stressed that it was a serious mistake to undermine the sovereignty of Member States and to impose a left-wing, ideological straitjacket on them. “It is regrettable that even the supposedly independent European Court of Justice is now a partner in the creation of a federal Europe,” he added.
“Despite all the threats, Hungary and Poland continue to stand by their policies based on common sense. We will defend our borders, we will defend our children and we will defend our way of life,” he concluded.
