Every life matters!

At the European Parliament’s Wednesday plenary session in Strasbourg, the protection of workers’ rights was at the heart of the debate. Pál Szekeres, a Member of the European Parliament for Fidesz, stressed: “Since 2010, one million more people have been employed in Hungary. Protecting the health and lives of workers is a fundamental obligation in a work-based society. Every life matters!”

Szekeres recalled: “In recent years, the Hungarian government has taken concrete steps in the field of occupational safety: we have increased occupational safety fines, especially in cases of serious or fatal accidents. We have tightened the investigation and reporting of workplace accidents so that the lessons of every accident can be incorporated into prevention. Hungarian public procurement rules are also clear: those who violate the protection of workers cannot receive public funds.”

The MEP underlined: “It is important to inform workers about health and safety regulations, especially in high-risk sectors such as construction.”

“I am convinced that fair competition and the protection of workers can only be ensured through the combined application of prevention, digital transparency, and modern inspection tools,” Szekeres concluded his speech at the European Parliament plenary in Strasbourg.
