Enlargement policy: László Tócsányi has received one of the most important commissioner portfolios

Press Release by the Fidesz-KDNP Delegation to the European Parliament

European Commission President-elect Ursula von der Leyen today announced the Commission’s proposed composition. The Fidesz-KDNP Delegation to the European Parliament welcomes the German President’s decision to assign the portfolio of European Neighborhood and Enlargement to László Trócsányi. This is one of the most important commissioner posts in the institution.

For decades, the portfolio of EU Commissioner for Enlargement has stood as one of the most prominent Commission posts. Hungary has been at the forefront of EU enlargement since its inception and was one of the most important allies of Croatia’s accession. Currently, the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union is one of the top priorities of the Hungarian government. We believe that enlargement can bring about a genuine reunification of Europe.

László Trócsányi is an internationally recognized expert. Many years of diplomatic experience make him fully qualified to meet the responsibilities of one of the most important posts in the Commission.
