MEPs in the European Parliament have voted today on a supplementary proposal to the agenda to discuss a call for stricter rules on the funding of NGOs and civil society organisations. The European left, along with MEPs from the Hungarian “dollar left”, voted to keep the issue off the European Parliament’s agenda.
It is an outrageous hypocrisy that MEPs from the European left, along with MEPs from the “dollar left”, constantly present themselves as champions of the fight against corruption, but when it comes to a justified tightening of the management of NGOs, they use every means to prevent even a debate.
The representatives of the Hungarian “dollar left” acting in the interests of their financiers, have prevented the European Parliament from dealing with the problem of the intricate management of NGOs. This is no coincidence since the issue of dollars rolling in from NGOs to the Hungarian left and stricter action against illegal campaign financing would have been on the agenda of the European Parliament.
