Brussels is up to its neck in systemic corruption

2023. 03. 17.

“On at least nine occasions, the European Commission’s Director-General for Transport has accepted expensive luxury airline tickets from Qatar while negotiating a transport deal on behalf of the EU that benefited Qatar. According to figures that have come to light so far, this amounts to more than 54 000 euros, or 20 million forints. What is this if not a textbook example of bribery?” pointed out by Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi in his speech in the European Parliament’s plenary debate on Wednesday afternoon.

According to MEP Balázs Hidvéghi, the corruption scandal in Brussels continues to grow, in which not only the European Parliament but also the European Commission is now deeply involved. “It is hypocritical and deceitful that while this Parliament and the European Commission are attacking Hungary with all sorts of trumped-up accusations of the rule of law, the Brussels bureaucrats are swimming in systemic corruption,” said MEP Hidvéghi.

The MEP underlined “This completely discredits the Brussels institutions’ investigation against Hungary. I therefore call on you to get your house in order and leave Hungary alone,” concluded MEP Balázs Hidvéghi.
