Viviane Reding, Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship briefed European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality on the planned work programme of the Commission for 2013. Lívia Járóka, Rapporteur of the European Parliament's report on the EU Strategy on Roma Inclusion asked the Commissioner whether the European Commission placed emphasis on analysing the financial feasibility of national inclusion strategies during their ongoing review and whether they aimed to provide the sustainability of anti-poverty measures also during the downturn of European economies. Reding – mentioning the involvement of NGOs and cross-border cooperation schemes – said that the programmes were based on diverse financing and therefore social inclusion would be maintained and the actions continued. The Commissioner also confirmed that the Commission would publish its review of national strategies within weeks and would monitor their implementation ensuring that funds go to the right direction.
