What we need is not discriminatory “vaccine passports” but vaccines!

2021. 03. 25.

At the EP plenary session, the proposal for an EU digital green certificate was debated. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth highlighted that thousands of our fellow citizens are losing their lives on a daily basis in Europe, the EU’s vaccination rate is at a critically low level of around 9 percent. “In these circumstances, it is not ideological debates on the vaccine passport that we need but vaccines”, stressed MEP Tóth.

According to the Fidesz Delegation to the European Parliament, it is essential for the EU to obtain as many vaccines as possible as fast as possible, because a higher vaccination rate is the only way out of the pandemic. However, instead of rapid vaccine procurement, Brussels institutions are embarking on ideological battles over the vaccine passport.

The Fidesz Delegation to the European Parliament drew attention to the fact that the vaccine passport must not be discriminatory and Brussels must respect the measures taken by Member States amid the epidemic. The Group stated that all vaccinated Hungarian citizens will receive an immunity certificate, regardless of the type of vaccine used.
