The European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) voted today on its position on the directive of the energy performance of buildings. It became clear that the leftist majority, which is up to its neck in the Brussels corruption scandal, would hinder the implementation of building modernization programs with irresponsible proposals that would only increase bureaucratic burdens. On the other hand, the successful implementation of building renovation plans requires granting immediate access to EU funds, reducing bureaucracy and responsible planning.
The upgrade of buildings is of key importance to keep utility bills low, ensure energy independence, and contribute to climate protection. Therefore, the rapid and efficient implementation of national building renovation programs is essential. Especially in the current situation, it is a catastrophic mistake to make proposals that include more bureaucracy and irresponsible goals.
However, the leftist majority, which is heavily involved in the Brussels corruption scandal, is doing just that. From 2028, they would only allow the construction of buildings that provide themselves with their own energy needs from renewable energy sources, and from 2035, fossil and natural gas-based heating would be banned in every building. In addition, they would also slow down planning procedures with new bureaucratic burdens.
“The proposals of the left are irresponsible and completely unsuitable to give impetus to building renovations. On the other hand, successful building modernization programs can be realized by reducing bureaucracy, practicing responsible planning and making EU funds immediately available. We, Fidesz members of the European Parliament, are fighting for this” – emphasized MEP András Gyürk.
