The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs today adopted the report on Serbia for the year 2022. The Fidesz MEPs voted against the report because of its unfair and biased statements.
The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee voted today on the report on Serbia for 2022. Not only does the text of the report contain partial and politically biased statements, but the nature and wording of the report make it clear that the European Parliament is now deliberately undermining its relations with Serbia and the partnership that has been established so far.
The EP’s bias becomes even more obvious when comparing the reports on Serbia and other Western Balkan countries. The lack of balance and a uniform standard is striking.
Hungary continues to stand by Serbia’s EU membership. We are convinced that the Committee on Foreign Affairs’ report on Serbia does not serve the goal of the country’s accession to the European Union as soon as possible. That is why the Fidesz MEPs voted against the report.
Background: The European Parliament is expected to vote on the report in its May plenary session.
