The European Parliament debated the preparation of the European Council of 26-27 October 2023 and the Hamas terrorist attack in Strasbourg on Wednesday. During the debate, Kinga Gál, President of the Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament, stressed that the brutal terrorist attack on Israel is unacceptable. The most important task now is to prevent an escalation of the conflict, which would trigger a new wave of migration towards Europe with Islamic terrorists mixed in with illegal immigrants. What do we see in Western Europe today? Pro-terrorist demonstrations, the highest level of terrorist threats, deadly terrorist attacks. “This is a consequence of the failed migration policy in Brussels. We need immediate, essential change and measures to prevent illegal migration at our external borders. It is clear that the migration pact is wrong and its further negotiation should be suspended immediately”, MEP Kinga Gál pointed out.
Kinga Gál expressed her sympathy with the people of Israel, adding that the brutal terror against the country is unacceptable and that Israel has the right to defend itself. “Brussels must immediately clarify whether EU funds could have been used for terrorist purposes by Hamas. No EU funds should be used directly by terrorist organizations, and I therefore support Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi’s proposal”, the Fidesz MEP underlined. Kinga Gál added that the release of hostages, the prevention of escalation of the conflict, and the maintenance of the Middle East peace process are the top priorities.
“The events of the last few days prove that innocent people on the streets of Western Europe are the ones who suffer from the consequences of the failed migration policy: pro-terrorist demonstrations, the highest level of terrorist threats, deadly terrorist attacks. The number of armed attacks by migrants on the external borders, including Hungary’s southern border, is increasing and becoming more aggressive, while human trafficking is flourishing”, the politician pointed out.
“It is clear that the current migration pact is ineffectual, it is wrong. I propose to immediately suspend further negotiations on it. Further acts of terrorism in Europe must be prevented. A mandatory migrant quota and the creation of migrant camps are not a solution, they would only be interpreted as an invitation to illegal immigrants. We need to strengthen the protection of our external borders and stop illegal migration”, said the Fidesz MEP.
