The European Parliament adopted the EU budget for 2022 today. Fidesz MEP Andor Deli highlighted that 2022 will be a record year with the largest-ever cohesion payments in the EU, of which Hungary will receive HUF 2.1 trillion in regional development funds for economic recovery. Payments under the Common Agricultural Policy are also assured, and Hungarian farmers will receive their EU support on time in 2022.
In the plenary debate, MEP Andor Deli warned that “further delaying the approval of the Hungarian and Polish recovery plans will upset the balance in the EU’s internal market between those who have already received support and those who have not. This will undermine the guarantee of a level playing field. Furthermore, the Commission is failing in its core duty to defend this principle. Intentional political discrimination against Hungarian and Polish stakeholders is unacceptable”.
At the same time, the Fidesz MEP said that the Hungarian government and the Hungarian budget are able to pre-fund and launch recovery programs thanks to the excellent economic performance in the years before the outbreak of the coronavirus and the expected record economic performance this year. In connection to this, the government has been able to successfully raise capital in the markets under favourable conditions.
