Hungary has submitted its national recovery and resilience plan to the European Commission, meaning resources for the relaunch of the Hungarian economy will open up from the European Union’s recovery fund. Hungary will make full use of these non-refundable subsidies, with more than HUF 2.5 trillion available for the country’s reboot.
The Hungarian government does not intend to follow the bad practice of pre-2010 left-wing governments, who recklessly indebted our country. Therefore, in regard to EU loans, the government has made a reasoned and right decision to use only non-refundable funds in order to minimize indebtedness. Similar to Hungary, 20 other Member States will also not increase their public debt with additional EU loans in the current situation. The government is planning to devote most of the resources available from the European recovery fund to further developing Hungarian healthcare.
Unsurprisingly, the submission of the national recovery plan was accompanied by the constant intrigues of the Hungarian Left in Brussels: Jobbik, DK, MSZP and Momentum MEPs always do their best to ensure Hungary will get as little money as possible. They first wanted to put resources due to Hungary into a centralised Brussels hat — which would have taken 98 percent of the funds away from the Hungarian people. Then, they began to spread the lie that there was no dialogue on the use of funds in Hungary, whereas under left-wing governments, unprecedented, extensive consultations were held with all relevant actors. The European Left has also forced a bogus rule of law mechanism on the EU budget, amounting to nothing more than political blackmail: If a Member State takes a different position from the “Brussels bubble”, they want to take resources away from it.
In recent weeks, the malicious activities of the Left have shifted into high gear even more. They sent a letter full of false accusations to the President of the European Commission, attacked the Hungarian government’s economic policy with unfounded arguments, incited their own fellow party members within the EP to openly attack the Hungarian recovery plan, and finally, through left-leaning media outlets, they lied that the plan, which had not yet been submitted, had already been thrown back. The Left once again showed its real political goals: to torpedo EU funds available to the Hungarian people so that, for lack of anything better, they could ride the difficulties they caused to victory in the 2022 elections.
The Fidesz Delegation to the European Parliament will continue to defend EU resources due to Hungarians against attacks by the Left.
