The first Annual Rule of Law Report of the European Commission is open political blackmail

2020. 09. 30.

The European Commission today presented its first Annual Rule of Law Report covering the 27 Member States of the European Union by Didier Reynders, Commissioner for Justice, and Věra Jourová, Commissioner for Values and Transparency. Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi emphasized at the press conference on the report that it contained absurd, unfounded and false statements about Hungary. He also pointed out that Věra Jourová, who had recently said in a Der Spiegel interview that Hungary was a sick democracy, was responsible for drafting the biased text. She claimed untruths about the Hungarian situation and insulted the Hungarian people when she said they could not freely decide political issues. The report became a longer version of the Der Spiegel interview. The Fidesz-KDNP Delegation rejects the report’s factual mistakes and lies. The document published today cannot form the basis for further negotiations on the rule of law.

Balázs Hidvéghi, member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), emphasized that the report was open political blackmail against Hungary. The politician pointed out that the text “is nothing more than a Soros report that these organizations dictated to the European Commission and Věra Jourova”.

The MEP explained that only “Soros organizations” had been consulted during the preparation of the report and that, in the end, only the biased findings of Soros organizations had been included in the report. According to the MEP, the document can thus in fact be called a “Soros Report”, which is full of absurd, false, arbitrary and biased statements.

The Fidesz-KDNP Delegation to the European Parliament rejects the European Commission’s repeated factual mistakes and lies on the subject of the rule of law in Hungary, as well as false claims related to the control of the coronavirus epidemic and the emergency situation!
