The European left is destroying the farmers!
2023. 10. 26.
The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliament voted today to amend the regulation on the sustainable use of plant protection products, the primary goal of which is to reduce the use of plant protection products by 50% by 2030. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth emphasized regarding the vote: the irresponsible decision of the committee is completely unacceptable as it could destroy Hungarian and European farmers.
MEP Edina Tóth pointed out: Hungary and Hungarian farmers are committed in creating a sustainable environment and we agree that the use of pesticides should be reduced. However, we do not support the report’s 50% binding target for all member states and consequently farmers would stop their activities and food prices would also skyrocket.
“Another erroneous decision by Brussels and the left will result in a large reduction in crop yields, which is an unacceptable risk in the current war situation, that also threatens food security. Reducing the use of pesticides is in the interest of society as a whole. Therefore, an agreement is needed that finds a delicate balance between health, between environmental and climate protection, as well as competitiveness, economic and safe food supply aspects!” – pointed out the Fidesz MEP.
