The European disability card and the EU parking card are coming

Fidesz MEP Ádám Kósa welcomed the proposal of the European Commission, introducing a unified European disability card, which would be used to verify disability status in all EU countries.

It is also to be welcomed that the parking cards that can be applied for by people with disabilities will be standardized in the EU member states.

MEP Kósa emphasized: “It is important that people with disabilities can move freely within the EU, which will be facilitated by the two EU cards.”

“When traveling abroad, the holders of the EU disability card will be able to benefit from the same benefits as the citizens of the host country, so for example, they can use public transport at a lower price, they can get free entrance tickets to museums, or they don’t have to stand in line at the amusement parks,” explained MEP Kósa.

“And the European parking card will guarantee the use of parking spaces and facilities reserved for people with disabilities in all EU countries,” added the MEP.

MEP Ádám Kósa emphasized: “With its proposal for the introduction of the European disability card and the European parking card, the Commission fulfills the commitment made in the EU strategy on the rights of persons with disabilities (2021-2030), but the development of detailed rules may still take months.
