Security for women!

2024. 11. 25.

The European Parliament today held a debate in plenary on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In her speech, MEP Viktória Ferenc, Fidesz-KDNP MEP and member of the Patriots for Europe Group, stressed that violence against women is one of the most pressing social issues of our time, and that the often silent victims must be helped. He reminded that conscious government decisions can help women’s safety.

MEP Viktória Ferenc, member of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, drew attention to the fact that violence against women most often occurs in women’s own homes, and that women are most at risk in public spaces and on the streets.

The MEP pointed out that Hungary is one of the twenty safest countries in the world, where women can go out in the evening and at night. This is the result of the Hungarian government’s conscious measures: a well thought-out immigration policy and continuous improvements in public safety. While public safety is a growing problem in many Western European countries, Hungary has been able to maintain the conditions that allow millions of women to feel safe on the streets and in public spaces. The Hungarian example can serve as a model for other European countries in strengthening women’s sense of security.

“Every woman deserves to feel safe, whether at home, on the streets, at work or in the world of the internet!”
