Real action can be the only solution to the energy crisis

2022. 12. 13.

At today’s plenary session, the European Parliament (EP) discussed the RePower EU package of proposals aimed at dealing with the energy crisis. During the debate, Fidesz MEP András Gyürk stated that increasing renewable energy and reducing bureaucracy are steps in the right direction, however, in order to truly deal with the crisis, Brussels must abolish the harmful sanctions and give adequate financial resources to the member states. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth stressed that the use of renewable energy sources will also bring tangible results in terms of employment and regional development throughout the Union.

In his contribution, MEP András Gyürk highlighted: “Citizens are forced to pay a sanction surcharge for energy. Therefore, in the current situation, all initiatives that increase renewable energy and reduce bureaucracy should be supported. Speeding up licensing procedures can achieve both of these goals.”

“However, in order to increase the share of renewable energy, the power grid must also be developed. The necessary investments require a strong economy. That is why the harmful sanctions must be abolished and the efforts should be focused to help people and businesses,” emphasized the Fidesz MEP.

MEP Edina Tóth emphasized: “Our planned developments are in line with the Union’s climate policy objectives, these projects can finally start with the adoption of our recovery plan (RRF)”. We want a greener Europe, and this is the right time for the Union to find a solution to the energy crisis caused by the poorly designed sanctions.
