The European Union, in accordance with its comprehensive economic policy goals, formulates guidelines for the member states in the field of employment every year. New targets for jobs, skills and poverty reduction have been set for 2023. Fidesz MEP Ádám Kósa highlighted in this regard: “There are more people working in Hungary today than a year ago, even though we were already in the forefront of the EU based on the 2022 data.”
The MEP reminded: “We already exceeded the goal 7 years before the deadline. The key EU goal set for 2030 is that at least 78% of the population between the ages of 20 and 64 work. In Hungary, in the case of men and in the capital, the number of employed people already exceeds this ratio (79%), while the ratio also rises nicely for women (70.5%).
Speaking about the details, the politician said: “The number of employed people in Hungary was 4,766,000 in July 2023, which is 51,000 more than a year ago. The number of people working within our country’s borders increased by 31,000, and the number of people working abroad by 7,000, while the number of public employees decreased by 7,000”.
MEP Kósa emphasized: “Our country is committed to maintaining a work-based economy. Growing employment through years of consistent support is a real Hungarian success story.”
