Only vaccination can save the summer tourism season

2021. 04. 28.

The European Parliament’s plenary held a debate on “Saving the summer tourism season”. Fidesz MEP Andor Deli pointed out in relation to the debate that only a high level of vaccination could guarantee a safe resumption of tourism.

“There has been a lot of talk about tourism in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is not surprising, as the tourism and hospitality sectors have come to a near standstill not only in Europe but worldwide. Even in the European Union, millions of workers, small and family businesses depend on tourism and hospitality sector. Undoubtedly, financial support should be provided for the restart, but only a vaccination can provide a lasting solution,” emphasized Deli.

“Brussels is currently trying to divert attention from the failed vaccine procurement with the digital green certificate, but this is not a real solution. If we want to save the summer tourism season, we need to speed up vaccination. Only vaccination provides effective and long-term protection, so not only can tourism be relaunched, but everyday life can get back to normal,” added the Fidesz politician.
