Katalin Cseh should be immediately recalled as rapporteur

2022. 06. 30.

MEP Tamás Deutsch, head of the Fidesz delagation in the European Parliament, warned his fellow MEPs in a letter that the person responsible for the EP report on the fight against fraud, MEP Katalin Cseh, is the subject of a serious fraud case involving EU funds. He also noted that “the only acceptable move to preserve the remaining credibility of the Parliament would be the immediate recall of Katalin Cseh as rapporteur.”

In a letter sent to all his fellow MEPs, Tamás Deutsch stressed: “While the Hungarian left has for many years been continuously slandering everyone — pro-government politicians, businessmen who they claim to be pro-government, family members of politicians and other public figures — with claims of corruption, the person responsible for the report on ‘Protection of the EU’s financial interests – combating fraud’ is precisely Katalin Cseh, who is actually involved in a serious fraud involving millions of euros in EU funds, and who is currently under investigation by national and European Union authorities.”

He underlined that “the fact that the person responsible for the EP report on the fight against fraud involving EU funds is the subject of a fraud case involving EU funds, not only reflects poorly on the Renew Europe Group, but also seriously undermines the already shattered reputation of the European Parliament and the European Union.”

The head of the delegation wrote in conclusion, “The only acceptable move to preserve the remaining credibility of the Parliament would be the immediate recall of Katalin Cseh as rapporteur.”
