According to Fidesz MEPs, the European Commission’s 2023 report on the rule of law is completely discreditable because while it attacks some Member States, it does not address the serious corruption scandals and rule-of-law problems affecting the institutions in Brussels.
MEP Kinga Gál, President of the Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament, said in the plenary debate of the European Parliament on Tuesday afternoon that the Commission’s double standards on the rule of law report are so obvious that they discredit the instrument and the process itself. “Once again, Brussels is lecturing Member States in ideology-driven reports influenced by NGOs, instead of first putting its own house in order”, the politician pointed out. She added that there is not a single word in the report about the problems related to the rule of law in the Brussels institutions.
Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi added that “it is not acceptable that Member States are constantly being lectured, some of them are constantly attacked for political reasons, and the EU funds they are entitled to are being withheld, while the operation of the institutions in Brussels is full of serious corruption and other scandals”.
According to Fidesz MEPs, in the 2024 European Parliament elections, the people of Europe should give a strong response to the corruption scandal in Brussels. It’s time to finally end corruption in Brussels!
