The European Parliament’s plenary session held an exchange of views on the European Social Fund + (ESF +). In his speech, Fidesz MEP Ádám Kósa emphasized that projects supported by the ESF +, especially programs for the development of quality education, will bring real improvements in people’s lives and opportunities in Hungary as well.
MEP Kósa highlighted that it is important to place great emphasis on the education of the youth from early childhood, as only with the right skills will our children find a secure and decent job. “We have ESF + resources to help us with this, which we use very efficiently in Hungary,” said the MEP.
MEP Kósa cited the Hungarian network of Safe Start Children’s Houses as a good example: “There are children’s houses in 150 places across the country, where young children under the age of 3 are playfully assisted by professionals in early development in order to prepare for kindergarten and later school years. The key to the success of the program is to actively involve parents and provide them with the necessary support.”
“I believe that investing in the future of children can be accomplished through quality education, so every forint we spend on it will be worthwhile,” MEP Kósa emphasized.
Background: Between 2021 and 2027, the ESF will provide € 88 billion to Member States to reduce child poverty, increase social inclusion, provide young people with quality education and to find well-paid jobs with the skills they have acquired. The ESF + also supports green and digital transition, while in a tangible way, it also helps the most vulnerable groups in society with durable food.
