It is a disgrace that the European Parliament is still attacking Hungary in the current war crisis!

2022. 09. 14.

“It is unforgivable that while people are suffering from the severe economic effects of war inflation and misguided sanctions, the European Parliament is once again attacking Hungary”, Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said in the plenary debate on the report on Hungary. “Whether you call it the Tavares, Sargentini or Delbos-Corfield report, what has been going on here for a decade is a witch hunt. Once again, the left majority in the European Parliament is stigmatising and stirring up problems. Another dictate is being issued in the name of the rule of law”, MEP Kinga Gál, President of the Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament said.

“Don’t you think that you have more important things to do than attack Hungary with lies for the hundredth time?” asked Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi. “Unpayable electricity and gas bills, failing businesses, looming unemployment and insecurity — these are the things that Europe should be responding to, not conducting a political witch hunt against Hungary”, the MEP underlined. He added that it is obvious that the left wants to blackmail Hungary because they cannot accept the fact that the Hungarian people said no to the Hungarian left and to the lectures from Brussels for the fourth time in the spring. “Please understand: We will stand up for our national interests even if you do not like it. Hands off Hungary!”, the MEP stressed.

MEP Kinga Gál said: “I was here in 2013 during the debate on the Tavares report. I have been fighting ever since against the increasingly rampant hate campaign against our country. The Sargentini report raised the stakes with the Article 7 procedure. And the present report is now calling for EU funding to be withdrawn. These texts are all indictments commissioned by the Hungarian opposition, with the active involvement of NGOs and so-called “independent” experts. While in reality, constructive, solution-oriented negotiations are taking place between the European Commission and the Hungarian government, the majority in the European Parliament is once again stigmatising and stirring up problems. Another dictate is being issued in the name of the rule of law”, the president of the Fidesz delegation concluded.
