Following the European Commission’s referral, the Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that Poland must pay a record fine of 1 million euros a day to the EU for failing to suspend the disciplinary chamber of its Supreme Court. The Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament considers the decision outrageous and another blatant attack on the sovereignty of Poland and the Polish people. Once again, we stand firmly by Poland. Enough of the political pressure of EU institutions! Hands off Poland!
Following a referral from the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled yesterday that Poland must pay a daily fine of EUR 1 million for maintaining the disciplinary chamber of its Supreme Court. The record fine, unprecedented in the history of the EU, is yet another blatant attack on Poland’s sovereignty by the EU institutions.
Last week, the left-wing majority in the European Parliament, together with the People’s Party, adopted an absurd resolution stating that the Polish Constitutional Tribunal has no legal legitimacy and no right to interpret the Polish Constitution. The Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament is appalled by the constant attacks on Poland and the crude political pressure. Once again, we stand firmly by Poland. Hands off Poland!
