Yesterday evening, the European Parliament (EP) discussed the outcome of the negotiations related to Fit for 55!”, the package of EU climate policy measures. In her speech, Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth pointed out that effective environmental protection measures are essential, but at the same time, farmers and foresters may be the victims of the land use regulation proposals. “Brussels must urgently change its strategy before it causes irreversible damage to the economy with its unwise climate policy decisions” – she stressed.
According to MEP Edina Tóth, the reduction of the newly defined large-scale agricultural emissions would lead to EU measures such as limiting the use of artificial fertilizers, reducing livestock, or changing the food consumption habits of the population.
The MEP highlighted: “Our common goal is to transform the EU into an environmentally conscious society with a modern and competitive economy, but not in this way. The EP representative emphasized: our farmers and foresters deserve more, and now they have to face significant challenges again! “Instead of irresponsible distribution of burdens, we expect achievable goals!” – MEP Edina Tóth concluded her speech.
