European NGO act wants to put Soros’ organisations above the law

2022. 02. 23.

According to Fidesz MEPs Ernő Schaller-Baross and Balázs Hidvéghi, the proposal for a new “EU NGO law” voted by the European Parliament (EP) is unacceptable, as it would put NGOs working for an open society above the law.

The EP has adopted a package of proposals on basic rules for European cross-border NGOs. The proposal would initiate binding EU rules and harmonise national rules for NGOs.

“The leftist majority in the EP would give unprecedented privileges to Soros’ organisations. It would take away the power of the member states so that these organisations could fully serve the interests of and be controlled by Brussels. “The EP is once again supporting a typical left-wing manipulation,” said MEP Ernő Schaller-Baross.

MEP Balázs Hidvéghi stressed that there was no justification for giving NGOs any privileges or prerogatives. “They should be subject to the same rules as others. NGOs should not be placed above the law,” MEP Hidvéghi said. He added that it was obvious that the EP would give legal exemptions to favor actors belonging to the Soros network.
