The plenary session of the European Parliament voted to support MEP Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz’s nomination to become a member of the Court of Auditors. The Council is set to decide on the appointment on May 16th, 2017.
The candidate of the Hungarian government elaborated her plans on the position and responded to questions from representatives at the April 12th session of the European Parliament’s Budgetary Control Committee. The Committee took a favorable decision on the nomination and supported it with a large majority.
The Fidesz-KDNP European Parliamentary group congratulates MEP Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz on the successful vote. Her nomination to the Court of Auditors is an outstanding recognition of her professional work over the past several years.
Background: Members of the Court of Auditors are appointed by the Council – after consulting the European Parliament – upon the nomination of the Member States. The appointment lasts six years and is renewable. The members of the Court of Auditors are to act completely independently in the general interest of the European Union.
