Double standards and political blackmail are destroying fundamental European values

At today’s plenary session of the European Parliament, President Emmanuel Macron presented the programme of the French Presidency. MEP Tamás Deutsch, Head of the Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament, pointed out in his speech that double standards and the practice of political blackmail are destroying fundamental European values.

Head of Delegation Tamás Deutsch underlined that it is a very dangerous practice for European liberals and leftists to turn everything into a political and ideological issue. Moreover, they are striving for ideological exclusivity under the banner of liberal democracy.

MEP Deutsch also drew the attention of the French Presidency to the fact that without nuclear energy, it is not possible to achieve ambitious climate protection targets. The question of which form of energy production is sustainable and green is not an ideological question, but merely a technological one.

The Fidesz MEP also called on the French president not to pressure others to make the same mistake of letting in masses of illegal migrants. “The external borders must be protected under all circumstances; not everyone should be let in”, he said in conclusion.
