Disastrous EU–US Trade Pact: Brussels must immediately disclose the secret clause advancing Ukrainian interests and the continuation of the war in Ukraine!

2025. 07. 30.

The “agreement” struck between the Brussels bureaucracy and the United States is disastrous for Europe. This failed pact is yet another proof that the Brussels bureaucracy—led by Ursula von der Leyen—has turned its back on the interests of European citizens, families, and businesses, choosing instead to strike a deal that includes a secret clause serving Ukrainian interests.

Under the pact, EU products will be subject to a 15% tariff in the United States. In addition, the EU commits to purchasing energy from the US worth an astronomical €750 billion, while European companies are expected to invest another €600 billion overseas.

This is nothing less than another betrayal by the Brussels bureaucracy—rather than working to strengthen Europe’s energy independence, they are once again forcing European citizens and businesses to bear the burden of skyrocketing energy prices. It is utterly absurd that Brussels bureaucrats, without any mandate, have pledged staggering investment sums on behalf of European companies, instead of focusing on supporting European businesses and improving their competitiveness.

It has also come to light that the disastrous pact contains a secret clause regarding Ukraine, which stipulates continued military aid and funding for the war. This means Ursula von der Leyen and the current Brussels leadership would continue to finance the war using European taxpayers’ money—without consulting the public.

The Fidesz–KDNP delegation to the European Parliament demands that Brussels immediately disclose the secret clause that advances Ukrainian interests and serves to prolong the war in Ukraine!

Due to the Brussels bureaucracy’s misguided decisions, European citizens are already facing higher energy prices, declining competitiveness, cuts in agricultural subsidies, support for illegal migration, and hundreds of billions of euros committed to Ukraine—paid for by European taxpayers.

Ursula von der Leyen was re-elected by the grand left-liberal coalition, including the EPP Group led by Manfred Weber and members of the Tisza Party, such as Péter Magyar. It is outrageous that this Brussels-based coalition—Tisza Party included—continues to bow to the bureaucrats and repeatedly votes in favor of policies that harm European citizens. This clearly shows that the Tisza Party faithfully follows Brussels’ pro-war and economically self-destructive agenda.

The Fidesz–KDNP delegation stands firmly for peace in Europe and the interests of European citizens and rejects the damaging decisions of the current Commission president and the Brussels bureaucracy, which harm European families and businesses. We will not allow Brussels to drag the continent into war while ignoring the will and interests of the people of Europe.

Leadership change is urgently needed in Brussels!
