Brussels’ poorly designed climate ideology prevents an effective fight against climate change

Today, the European Parliament held its plenary debate on the results of the UN Climate Change Summit (COP27 Climate Summit), which took place in Egypt. Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth pointed out in her plenary speech that the negotiating delegation of Brussels, led by Frans Timmermans, the vice-president of the European Commission, only imposed its flawed climate ideology at the climate summit, without results. “Because of this, the balance sheet of the climate summit is a complete failure,” she added.

MEP Edina Tóth pointed out that at a global level, together with our partners outside of Europe, solutions to climate protection issues can be found, and climate protection measures can only be accelerated with a joint effort. According to the Fidesz MEP, it is extremely sad that apart from the supporting fund to developing countries, which has not yet been elaborated in detail, no real commitments were made at the COP 27 climate summit, and the fact that very few renewed their commitments compared to last year is a serious concern.

“Instead of thoughtless sanctions that make climate policy impossible, we need real and effective global climate protection!” she concluded in her speech.
