Brussels has lost all credibility to hold others to account for corruption

The corruption scandal of the Socialist Vice-President of the European Parliament is on the agenda of today’s plenary session of the European Parliament. In his speech, MEP Tamás Deutsch, head of the Fidesz delegation in the European Parliament, stressed that with this corruption scandal, Brussels has lost all credibility to hold others accountable for corruption. It has become clear that corruption and the selling of political influence are the norm for Brussels’ left-wing representatives and NGOs.
MEP Tamás Deutsch stressed that the European Union is facing the most serious corruption scandal in its history. “Corruption in Brussels is undermining the credibility of the entire EU institutional system”, he said.
The MEP pointed out that “the left’s anti-corruption rhetoric is a scummy political lie: the reports of MEPs Kaili, Barley, Freund, Verhofstadt or Sarvamaa on transparency and accountability are just a cover-up for corruption in Brussels.”
He reminded us that left-wing MEPs accuse national governments of corruption based on political lies and demand financial penalties against them on a daily basis. “Meanwhile, it has become clear that corruption in Brussels, the selling of political influence, is the norm for the left, along with its politicians and NGOs”, he added.
