The European Parliament held a debate today on the results of measures to strengthen the transparency and accountability of the European institutions. In her speech, Fidesz MEP Edina Tóth said: “It is scandalous that one year after the most serious corruption cases in Brussels, there is still no progress on these shameful cases involving the left.” According to the MEP, a corrupt system of political influence-buying is currently operating in Brussels, with the Soros empire and third countries benefiting.
MEP Edina Tóth underlined that real measures are needed instead of sham ones, and the proposed bureaucratic rules will not solve the problems. The left-wing MEPs concerned will continue to sit and vote in the European Parliament. Brussels and the left are still trying to use pseudo-legal issues to condemn Member States and cover up corruption.
The Fidesz MEP stressed that the EU’s institutional system designed to fight corruption has failed completely. She considers it worrying that the EU has a number of institutions specifically set up to investigate corruption in the EU institutions, but left-wing corruption has not been detected. This system must be changed! “A fundamental political change is needed, the Brussels swamp must be drained in the next European Parliament elections”, she concluded.
