The peace and security of Hungary must be preserved. The European left must stop the political slander!

The Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament regards it as shameful that in the current war situation, the left-wing majority in the European Parliament is still preoccupied with incitement against Hungary. Fidesz MEPs are of the view that everything must be done to preserve Hungary’s peace and security. This requires European unity, strategic calmness and responsible decisions. The foolish and insensitive political smear campaign waged by the European left in alliance with Hungarian left-wing MEPs must be stopped.

Speaking on the situation of refugees in Ukraine on Tuesday, Fidesz MEP Andrea Bocskor said that as a Hungarian from Transcarpathia, she is directly affected by the humanitarian crisis caused by the war. “I visited the aid centres on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border at the weekend, where I witnessed the amazing collaboration of Hungarians: they are going above and beyond to provide selfless help to those fleeing the war. Meanwhile, the Hungarian government is carrying out one of the largest humanitarian mission in the EU,” the MEP underlined. She added that the war must end as soon as possible and peace must be restored.

Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said that for years the European left had been attacking Hungary with the malicious lie that it does not help those in need. “They were obviously not telling the truth. We help all real refugees. Even the European commissioner, who cannot be accused of having a positive bias towards Hungary, has praised us. In contrast, the European and Hungarian left are attacking us again,” the MEP said.

The Fidesz delegation to the European Parliament opposes the fact that the left-wing majority in the European Parliament is adopting documents attacking Hungary and Poland in this week’s plenary session while these two countries are providing aid to hundreds of thousands of refugees from Ukraine. Once again, the European Parliament is demonstrating its own ineptitude in dealing with real emergencies.
