6 March: my colleague and I have an appointment on the 12th floor of the ASP in the office of Hungarian MEP Ádám Kósa. Ádám Kósa is special in that he was born deaf. His parents are deaf, as are his wife and two young boys.

Our Brussels-based correspondent talked to Mr Tamás Deutsch, Member of the European Parliament (Group of the European People's Party, Fidesz) at the end of a week during which the Hungarian media law was again twice at the centre of attacks. In the meantime, the philosopher Ágnes Heller described the situation in Hungary as a nightmare claiming among other things that during the former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány's reign, the police did not shoot at or torture anyone.

EP TODAY - Effective counter-terrorism is one of the main priorities of the European Union\'s recently adopted internal security strategy based on the Stockholm Programme. The EU Counter-terrorism Action Plan is the main point of reference as it defines the guidelines, operational, structural and legislative cornerstones for the member states. These constitute the base on which member states can build counter-terrorism models fit to their national parameters.
