European Jewish Association congratulates PM Orbán on his “roaring victory”

Rabbi Menachem Margolin, the director general of the European Jewish Association congratulated Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on his third consecutive “roaring victory” in Hungary’s 2018 general elections last week.

According to Bertalan Havasi, the PM’s press chief, Margolin described Orbán as Israel’s “dauntless protector” in world politics. During such stormy times, Margolin said, Prime Minister Orbán’s commitment to the Hungarian Jewish community is rock-solid.

The rabbi wrote that he trusts Mr. Orbán to deepen these positive relations with Israel and the Hungarian Jewish community in his new government. “Europe is at crossroads,” said Margolin.

Havasi reported that as long as the Hungarian prime minister stands up for Israel and protects the rights of Jews, he can count on the support of the European Jewish Association.
